The REAL Raw Sugar

The way cane sugar is supposed to be, Just Panela cane sugar is hand cut, hand kettled, hand crafted. That means no industrial collection or processing. Just Panela cane sugar retains the natural characteristics, knows as “terroir” (pronounced; ‘ter-war’). This means a product of nature retains its taste from the soil, climate, and region from whence it came. When white, turbinado, and brown sugars are centrifugally refined the good is thrown out with the bad. That includes the naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.

Nutritive, Raw, and Organic

Unlike commercially refined sugars, Just Panela doesn’t undergo the heavily mechanized process that strips away the natural matter from the cane. As a result, it retains the vitamins and minerals inherent to the cane plant itself, including potassium, calcium, magnesium, manganese, and vitamins A, B, C, D, E. Additionally, Just Panela’s more complex carbohydrates break down slower in your bloodstream, providing sustained energy release preferable for diabetics and athletes.

A Premium Alternative on the Condiment Counter

We currently source Just Panela from USDA Certified Organic farms in the Valle de Cuaca department of Colombia, to bring real raw, unrefined, nutritious cane sugar to consumers in a variety of settings. Bulk customers include coffee roasters, cafes, restaurants, bakeries, and food manufacturers. Just Panela has products in retailers nationwide.

Taste and Texture

When sampling Just Panela, one can immediately recognize the difference in taste and texture from other sugars like turbinado and brown sugar. Used in coffee and tea, Just Panela acts as a sweetener that naturally complements the flavor and minerality of the coffee bean or tea leaf. In baked goods and other food, it enhances the flavor profile, adding hints of caramel, molasses, raisin, and spice. Just Panela’s ability to compliment quality tea and coffee while adding a subtle yet distinct flavor profile to foods, makes it a welcome alternative for consumers in premium cafes, bakeries and homes.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS

ARE SAYING

I love the texture of this product. It has a slightly lumpy texture and melts instantly in my coffee while at the same time, giving it a fuller flavor. I only use a slightly heaping small spoon’s worth in my coffee of two 14oz. cups each morning, yet buy the 5# bag because I’m always disappointed when my bag is empty. White sugar just doesn’t get it for me anymore. I once used this as a substitute for white sugar in the Tollhouse Cookies recipe. It changed the flavor of the cookies, and when tasted warm out of the oven, they weren’t quite as good tasting. But the next day, my husband and I both thought they were superior to those baked the regular way. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I was looking for an unrefined sugar. I am so glad I found just panela. I love the taste and will be using it from now on. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This comes almost as a powder with small lumps and not hardened into a brick as some others I had read about. It tastes excellent. I found the taste to be what I would call earthy, and it works perfectly in my high-snoot, imported from all over the world, loose tea brew. I add it to things like winter squash, and sometimes breakfast cereal. I got the first bag to give it a try, and I certainly like it well enough to get more soon. I’m now going to use this all the time. It dissolves in hot tea almost instantaneously. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Properly crafted, excellent taste and yields higher than usual quality recipes! The molasses does not dominate flavor. I do sift it when I need a fine grain but then save the larger granules for other recipes. Slightly higher moisture content then refined sugars and did make homemade hamburger buns more dense. That was ok since it still yielded an excellent bread we used otherwise. Maybe an adjustment to leavening would work for that. Makes custard that are more than delicious! Also works with coffee, tea, marinades, sauces, chocolate desserts etc etc. Other sugars from health food stores were still too refined but this is different digestively, etc. Bought 5 pounds of this brand after trying 1 pound first and a different brand of panela, too. Company has been helpful when I contacted them through their site to ask questions. This is what sugar is supposed to be like.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
